Please read rules & regulations prior to signing up! Due to the limited spots available, please only sign up if you are able to attend the Pumpkin Regatta on October 18th and are willing to race your boat on the lake.

Design:
• Design and build your boats out of cardboard and duct tape- Let’s see how creative you can be.
• Inappropriate language or signage will not be tolerated. No- political or religious designs.
• Boat crew costumes are highly encouraged.
• Paint can only be used as décor not as a sealant.

Construction Rules:
• You are required to build your boat prior to the event.
• The ENTIRE Boat must be built of out cardboard.
o Duct tape, packing tape, hot glue, glue, rope & string are allowed to construct your boat.
o NO metal, nails, screws, plastic, pre-treated/waxed cardboard, tarps, liners or wood allowed.
o Cardboard cannot be sealed with any paints or sealants
• Teams are not allowed to reinforce or adjust their boat in any way after the event has begun.
• Boats must have a creative name.

Participant Rules:
• Each participant must check in at the LiveDAYBREAK info tent at 8:30am on 10/12/23 and pass a quick inspection.
• Each participant is required to fill out and sign a liability & media release form.
• Each boat can have 1 or 2 members.
• Each participant must be 8 years older or older.
• Race must begin and end with both crew member intact to qualify for the prize.
• During the competition, the crew must be IN the boat. No towing, holding, swimming or floatation assistance of any kind.
• Each participant in the boat is required to wear a personal flotation device. (please bring your own lifejacket & towel)
• Each participant must provide their own boat paddles. Double and single paddles are both allowed – no motors permitted.
• Judges reserve the right to divide entrants into heats, depending on the number of vessels.
• When the race is finished, the team must remove the boat and any leftover cardboard debris from the water and dispose of it in the designated trash area
• HAVE FUN

Tips:
• Longer boats may go faster but are harder to turn.
• Shorter boats are harder to keep afloat.
• Make sure you have strong corners- fold and overlap to support edges
• Strengthen the boat by multiple cardboard layers glued together.
• Kneeling is a power position and is allowed-Standing or laying down is not allowed.

Awards:

• Speed Boat award: The Team that completes the course the fastest.
o 1st, 2nd & 3rd
• Titanic award: The most spectacular sinking boat.
• Design award: For the best boat design and crew costumes.
